Jake Karls is the Cofounder and Chief Rainmaker of Mid-Day Squares, one of the fastest growing chocolate manufacturing brands in Canada and the United States.
Before becoming an Entrepreneur his dream was to become an Actuary or Investment Banker. After graduation and several job interviews, he was unsuccessful in securing a job. While watching a Shark Tank episode, Jake became inspired to explore a career path as an Entrepreneur because of his desire to be an outlier, and unapologetically himself.
Jake’s first stint as an Entrepreneur was as the Cofounder of “Chase and Hunter”, a clothing brand. He would later join his sister and her husband in cofounding Mid-Day Square, and is in charge of building the company’s network, brand and community.
William Rowe is the founder and CEO of Octopus Hydrogen, an energy company responsible for producing and supplying green hydrogen as a source of renewable energy.
Octopus Hydrogen was setup to decarbonise the sectors which cannot be decarbonised easily through electrification.
Mary Spio is an Entrepreneur, Tech Innovator, Author, Space Engineer and one of the first early adopters of the Metaverse. She is the CEO and Founder of CEEK VR, the original Metaverse company which also provides virtual reality event services. CEEK introduced Facebook’s parent company (Meta) to the Metaverse and also received growth funding from them in the early stages of CEEK Metaverse.
In addition to being a tech innovator and entrepreneur, Mary also served in the United States Air Force before going on to create innovations and technologies for global titans such as Universal Music, Baptist Health, Microsoft XBOX, Coca Cola and Boeing. Mary is on the Board of Facebook’s Oculus VR for Good and serves as a Scientific Reviewer for the Department of Defence.
Noella Coursaris Musunka is a social entrepreneur and the Founder of Malaika a non-profit organization that is based in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She leads Malaika at every level on a voluntary basis.
Noella is also a mother, an accomplished international model, philanthropist and the ambassador for The Global Fund to fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. She has dedicated her time to raising awareness of the importance of educating girls across the globe.
Melissa Snover is serial entrepreneur, visionary and innovator in the food tech industry. After studying Business Management and Political Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, Melissa moved to the UK to finish her studies at the prestigious Lancaster University.
At the age of 23, she co-founded Burton Mortgage Services, and in 2009 she sold her shares of the company to focus on the confectionery industry. Raphael Sofoluke is a serial entrepreneur, author and the Founder and CEO behind UK Black Business Show, UK Black Business Week, Birmingham Black Business Show & Black Tech Achievement Awards.
UK Black Business Show was founded in 2017. It is an annual conference and exhibition show which takes place during Black History Month to highlight and promote the amazing businesses founded by people from the black community.
